A Rainbow from ‘Spiegelgrund’ to Gxxx and Around the World — Mind the ‘Spiegel’

This collaborative art project by OMARTE Gallery, sheisinblack.art and BOBA Creations, presented at Parallel Vienna 2025, extends the artistic research on remembrance, responsibility and the unresolved wounds connected to Spiegelgrund.

Documented through the striking and sensitive photography of Tanja Schalling (Vallemarie), the project centers on a performance that brings these themes into physical space. The intervention uses symbolic objects to create a deliberate disturbance within the exhibition environment.

The performers move through the space with calm precision, interrupting the usual flow of the fair and confronting viewers with the tension between symbolic gestures and real historical suffering. Rather than offering comfort, the performance exposes the discomfort, the rupture and the illusion of reconciliation.

It is a direct artistic stance against violence, racism, antisemitism and any form of discrimination — a call to mind the 'Spiegel', to resist looking away and to acknowledge what is still unresolved.
